Course Reserves

Beginning the fall semester of 2001 the Schwob Library implemented a closed reserves system. Materials placed on reserve are now housed in a room behind the Circulation Desk and ETC computer lab areas on the main floor of the library.

Students needing reserve items can ask for them at the Circulation Desk. Eventually students will be able to ask for these materials at the door to the reserve room as well.

To obtain a reserve item a student will need to fill out a call slip giving:

1. Instructor's name and course number
2. Call number of item
3. Title of item

This information is available in GIL through a course reserves search. It is also available in the large black notebook on the counter at the Circulation Desk.

Reserve call slips have been placed at the public GIL terminals, the Reference Desk and the Circulation Desk so that they are readily available to students needing to obtain reserve items. Look for a small metal box containing blue reserve call slips.

Call slips ask for the basic information we will need to identify the item. Using call slips allows library staff to retrieve the items more easily and efficiently. Please help us implement this system by spreading the word regarding this new procedure.
