Make sure you get your entries for tomorrow's prize in by Friday at 3:00 p.m. 4/17/2008An afternoon tea will be held in the Library at 3:30pm on Thursday, April 17, in honor of Erma Banks, CSU Librarian and Associate Professor, who is recipient of the Columbus Library Association's 2008 LIBRA Award. A short LIBRA presentation ceremony will also be held. Tea and desserts will be served. The meeting will be held in the Schwob Library's third floor classroom (the basement entrance will be open from 3:15 to 4:45). The program is entitled “Using Genealogical Electronic Resources" and will be presented by John Lyles (Columbus Public Library) and Callie McGinnis (CSU Library). The program will feature live demonstrations of Footnote.com and Genealogybank.com and provide helpful hints for searching Ancestry.com and the Family History Catalog. Free and open to the public. Call 706-562-1494 for more information. 2/28/2008Library Closings: CSU Libraries will be closed March 1-3, Saturday through Monday, for Spring Break. On March 3 the library staff will be attending an all- day staff development event off campus. The libraries will resume break hours on Tuesday (Tuesday-Friday 8am- 5pm for the main library; and 9am-5pm for the Music Library). Both libraries will resume their regular semester hours for the weekend. Light lunch refreshments will be served beginning at noon; presentations will start at 12:30 and conclude at 1:30. 12/12/2007CSU Libraries will close for the December holidays at 5pm on Tuesday, December 18. The Schwob Library will reopen on Wednesday, January 2 at 8am. The Music Library will reopen that same day at 9am. Please stop by before the 18th and check out some books for your leisure reading over the break -- and continue to use our online resources by clicking on GALILEO on the library home page (library.colstate.edu). Happy Holidays! 11/14/2007It was announced on Novemeber 13, that GIL Express, a service offered by all University System of Georgia (USG) Libraries, was awarded a GOLD Level Team Award by USG Chancellor Errol B. Davis, Jr. GIL Express provides unmediated interlibrary loan of books for all currently enrolled/employeed USG students, faculty and staff. Borrowers have access to over 4 million titles in the USG online union catalog (gil.usguc.edu) and receive their requested items in 2 to 3 days. Congratulations to the CSU Circulation Department -- Cynthia Fears, Shirley Hinckley, Brandi Epps, Regina McHenry and all their student assistants -- for helping to make GIL Express an award-winning service! |
