GALILEO password

The GALILEO password changes every semester. CSU students, faculty and staff may get the current GALILEO password via the GIL online catalog by following the steps outlined below.

  1. Click to open GIL in a new browser window. Note that you will be using GIL to get the GALILEO password, not GALILEO itself.
  2. Click on "Get GALILEO Password". This is in the box in the lower right corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Columbus State University Libraries" as your Home Institution.
  4. Select barcode, CSU ID, or social security number from the drop-down menu on the next line and enter the appropriate number in the box. Do not use spaces or dashes when entering the number. Your CSU ID number is on the front of your CSU ID card, immediately below your name. It should begin with "909". You may also look up your CSU ID number here. Your barcode is "201" followed by your CSU ID number.
  5. Enter your last name in the box under the ID number box.
  6. Click on the "Logon" button
  7. On the next screen will read "Please Choose Type of Request" and will default to "GALILEO and Library Passwords". Click on "OK".
  8. The current password will be shown on the next screen.
  9. Finally, click on the "Exit" button at the top of the screen to logoff your GIL account.

If you experience any difficulty with the library's web site or entering your patron barcode, you may contact the library at 706-562-1494.

Columbus State University faculty, staff, and students may also get the password by bringing their valid CSU ID to the Circulation Desk of the Library.

Patrons not affiliated with Columbus State University should check with their local public library about GALILEO access.
